“ Peppercorns Kitchen has very good food. I tried the beef short ribs with pumpkin sauce and the fried shrimp in typhoon shelter style during the 2023 Chinese lunar new year special. I also tried the braised pork belly that tasted very similar to how my mom makes it. The servers were very nice and efficient at their job ”
“ The spicy chicken lives up to the hype! Definitely the hottest popcorn chicken I’ve ever eaten. My mouth was numb and I was guzzling water nonstop. The space is aesthetic and spacious too. Highly recommend ”
“ I arrived here today just to boost my immunity so I chose a pot of Jasmine tea with a side of lemon and honey a huge pitcher of water and an extremely large generously portioned wonton soup. Soup was delicious but needed a bit of fire and my server Vitto was happy to bring me some chilli paste oil on the side. I definitely feel so much better now so the hot tea and soup was perfect for a cold wintery day. I may be back tomorrow for more soup and eventually when my appetite returns I'd love to try the simmer pot dishes which also look very tempting. Thanks for giving me such excellent service. ”
“ Must-visit restaurant in Evanston! I often go here. My go-to is the wonton in chili sauce for the appetizer and the spicy beef noodle if you like a numb, tingling sensation from the peppercorn. The taste of the food is always consistent. I always enjoy going back here every time I visit the Evanston area. ”
“ After I visited their location in Lafayette IN, I had to try this location out. It turns out that the owners used to be partners but no longer, but they kept the name. Regardless the menus are basically the same. The interior is better vs. the Lafayette location by a long shot. The location can't be better, in the middle of the NW campus, easy parking. The traditional Chinese dishes are great, as traditional as they can be, especially the intestines, yum. They don't charge for rice like Lafayette does. In terms of the level of spice, it is also tuned down a bit for the locals. I strongely recommend anything with the fresh hand cut noodle, perfect balance between chew and softness. One thing I have noticed, there are a lot of reviews about their Kung Pao Chicken, which is something I tried to stay away from because, while the name is an actual traditional Chinese dish, it has become an Americanized dish and available in any moms and pops run of the mill Chinese take outs. But after seeing all of the raving reviews I had to try it. The conclusion is, I should've listened to my gut. It remains very Americanized, very sweet with a simple soy based sauce. I think I will stick to the traditional Chinese menu. Overall this restaurant is better than Lao Szechuan just around the corner. I will surely visit again. ”
“ Our group of six dined here tonight. It's the best and most authentic Chinese food I've had around Chicago. Every single dish was great. The restaurant is clean, modern, and casual. Will be back. ”
“ I can't believe this restaurant only gets 4.3 stars. Be prepared. All the dishes are not only spicy but may made your tongue numb because of the Sichuan Pepper. Please order Hot pot Fish! This will blow your mind! This is definitely the restaurant that I would like to revisit to explore more dishes! Great job! ”
“ Peppercorns Kitchen is my favorite restaurant in Evanston! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The service is friendly and attentive. The menu offers a good variety of authentic and fresh Chinese dishes at reasonable prices. Would highly recommend the dan dan noodles. It is a must try for anyone looking for a good Chinese restaurant. ”
